P.E.A.R. Ministry (Parish Emergency Assistance Relief)
PEAR is a ministry which provides emergency assistance, as resources allow, to people in need in the community as well as to transients. The PEAR network is facilitated by Catholic Charities. At St. Raymond, volunteers are “on call” to aid walk-ins or phone calls which come into the PMC. The front desk contacts a PEAR minister, who then collects information and history from the person requesting assistance. Assistance is provided and available along with referral to Catholic Charities, or other social service organizations. This is an “on call” ministry, averaging one to two hours per week, with some scheduled Catholic Charities meetings which move around the parishes in the Program. Training is necessary and provided. Volunteers are needed.
